On Friday, April 24, students from Pansophia's Theater Arts, Podcasting and Journalism classes presented a Drunk and Distracted Driving Accident Simulation.

The students were assisted by community partners from the Coldwater Police, Fire and Public Safety Departments, Dutcher Funeral Home, Doug's Auto Recyclers and VIP Towing.

Special thanks to Pansophia administration, staff, students and parents for their support of this important event. We hope it was impactful and meaningful, and that all Branch County students have safe prom, graduation and summer seasons.

On Friday, April 24, our high school Theater Arts, Podcasting and Journalism students will be presenting a drunk/distracted driving car accident simulation in the Branch Area Career's Center Parking lot. All students in grades 8-12 are invited to come to this event, but we wanted to give any students who are uncomfortable with the subject matter the chance to opt out.

In order to be impactful, a mock accident must be realistic, and as such the portrayal will be graphic. One of the students portrayed will "die;" two will be "trapped and extricated" from the wreckage and one will be "arrested." Joe Scheid, Coldwater's Director of Public Safety, will speak.

If any of these things will be triggering or overly-upsetting for your students, they are NOT required to attend. Students may choose to stay back at the school for any reason. In addition you, as a parent or guardian may request that your child does not attend. Again, this is only for students in grades 8-12.

Please note that our social workers and counselors will be available to any students who would like to talk about the presentation.

If you do not want your child to attend, please call the school at (517) 279-4686 by 9 a.m. on April 24. If you have any questions or concerns about the presentation, email Mrs. Barrand at jbarrand@pansophia.us.
